Classes:
Sessions
are approximately 4 - 5 hours in length.
Participants
are encouraged to wear natural fiber clothing (wool, cotton, linen).
Period
dress optional.
Aprons will be provided.
All
classes take place in the specially built cooking hearth/fireplace in the Great
Room at Connie's home.
The Cooking space
is equipped with an iron 18th century style crane,
Period
cooking equipment includes an 18th century style tin roaster, an iron 'bird spit'
for roasting fowl, a cast-iron bake kettle, iron gridiron, and other historic
implements.
Classes focus on the basic
cooking techniques used in early American cooking: baking, roasting, frying, boiling,
and making beverages.
